The most dangerous phrase in business...

'We've always done it this way'

We are a team of digital printing industry experts operating across the whole of the UK

Background

With combined industry experience of over seventy years in the UK commercial printing sector, working for some of the biggest names in the industry including Heidelberg, Kodak & Canon, we have a complete understanding of the processes involved in managing printing operations and the pressures that come with it. We also know that since the introduction of mainstream digital printing technology the industry has changed beyond recogition and will continue to change at an ever increasing pace.

So you need a new digital press, what do you do?

You call your current supplier to see what deals they have on new machines, you scroll the internet looking for the latest and greatest new innovations, you speak to industry friends and colleagues about what they use and who they deal with, and then ultimately you speak to lots of sales people who try to convince you to buy what they have.  Each of the sales people ask you questions about what you do, what you need and what you want, then they all think about the specific brands of equipment they can sell you and try and fit their products to your needs. So whats wrong with that? Well, nothing's wrong with that, 'It's the way we've always done it', right?

The way we've always done it

The print equipment supply industry consists of direct sales organisiations from the major manufacturers such as Canon, Kodak, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Ricoh, Xerox, etc. each offering their own brand of equipment backed by a direct service operation. Each of them can only sell their own brand so they work to convince you that their product is the best.

Then we have the indirect sales channel made up of independnet resellers offering one or two brands to give you choice with their own service organisiation or maybe they back the service off to the manufacturer.

What makes DPS different

This opening statement may sound odd but bear with us, 'We don't care which machines you end up with or if you prefer direct or indirect service'. With DPS the choice is yours, always and in all things.  Our job is not to convince you to buy one machine over another, or to tell you that you must have direct or indirect service.  It's not to tell you that you must have inkjet over toner, or that you really can't afford to be without feature A or feature B.  It's not to tell you that you must be able to print on to this stock or that stock, or that you must have five, six or seven colours.  Thats not what we are about.

Our job, first and formost is to listen to you

To understand what you want and what you need. To undertsand your absolute must have's and nice to have's if it makes sense. We want to understand your history relating to digital print and how it has effected your business so far (positivley or negativley).  The equipment selection process is often marred by past experiences that may not have worked out, and these negative experiences can mentally close doors that should really be kept open in order to get the best possible outcome.  Just because you had a negative experience from supplier A five years ago does not mean you would have the same experience now, and its our job to ensure that we know all the industry players and the positives and negatives of dealing with each one.  Our industry is constantly changing and at DPS our job is to assist you in navigating this ever changing lansdscape.

'Everything changes and nothing remains still; and you cannot step twice into the same stream.'
